Approximately one thousand families given cash by UNHCR in Kabul

As the winter season is approaching and the humanitarian crisis is deepening in Afghanistan, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees provided nearly one thousand vulnerable families with cash.

The vulnerable and displaced families were given $265 each in Poli Charkhi area of the Afghan capital Kabul.

Officials in the Refugee directorate of Kabul applauded the aid and said that the families were selected after a transparent survey.

The officials called on other countries and humanitarian agencies to continue helping the Afghan people as the winter season is approaching.

In the meantime, officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said that they have provided aid to thousands of families in the past few days and added to be continuing the aid across the country.

It comes as people in Afghanistan are still waiting for the international community to take action and unfreeze billions of dollars frozen in the US banks.

In the latest move, World Bank has decided to be considering releasing $500 million in aid to Afghanistan to help address the humanitarian crisis of Afghanistan.
