The Mets have beefed up their analytics department over the past year.
Now the head of that department is getting a promotion.
Ben Zauzmer, whom the Mets hired last year to be their director of baseball analytics and oversee research and development, has been promoted to assistant general manager, a source confirmed on Monday. MLB Network first reported the news.
Zauzmer came to the Mets in January after spending six seasons with the Dodgers. The 2015 Harvard grad is also known for his use of analytics to predict the Oscars winners.
Under new general manager Billy Eppler, who was hired in November, Zauzmer is now the Mets’ third assistant GM. He joins Ian Levin and Bryn Alderson, who were promoted to their roles last summer.
