Landon Eastep fatally shot by police as he walked on Tennessee interstate

Regulation enforcement officers in Tennessee fatally shot a person wielding a field cutter on a serious interstate Thursday afternoon following a tense 30-minute standoff.

The lethal encounter unfolded after a state freeway patrol trooper noticed Landon Eastep, 37, seated on a guardrail on Interstate 65 in Nashville at about 2 p.m., WKRN reported, citing police.

When the officer tried to speak to Eastep, he “pushed away from the trooper and produced a field cutter,” Metro Nashville Police Division spokesman Don Aaron mentioned.

The trooper known as for backup — and quite a few officers from three businesses tried for a few half-hour to de-escalate the state of affairs.
