Video captures family’s 17-floor escape from deadly Bronx tower fire

Video footage captured a Bronx household’s escape from their Seventeenth-floor condominium throughout Sunday’s lethal blaze on the high-rise.

Yesbely Fernandez shot the footage inside 333 E. 181st St. as she and her household evacuated the doomed constructing, with firefighters seen arriving on the scene, tweeted a WCBS 880 reporter.

Footage reveals the household’s blackened hallway with firefighters within the background outdoors their condominium.

“Evacuation down 17 flights of stairs in Sunday’s lethal Bronx hearth,” WCBS reporter Marla Diamond wrote.

Fernandez’s household — together with a younger boy — is seen in one other video making their approach down a stairwell previous hearth hoses and firefighters, with puddles littering the steps at a number of spots.

A 3rd video offers an aerial view of the scene displaying the commotion far beneath as firefighters and FDNY vans encompass the constructing.

Authorities stated the fireplace erupted shortly earlier than 11 a.m. Sunday and have blamed an area heater in condominium 3N for sparking the blaze — with sources reporting Tuesday that a minimum of one heater was working for a number of days.

An open door within the condominium, a duplex, allowed lethal smoke to engulf the constructing, killing 17 individuals and injuring dozens of others, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro stated.
