Why ‘SATC’ fans think Samantha and a baby are coming to ‘Emily in Paris’

After saying “goodbye” to “Sex and the City,” could Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha soon be saying “bonjour” to “Emily in Paris?”

Fans are flooding social media with speculation that the actress, 65, is joining the third season of Netflix’s most “hate-watchable” series, which stars Lily Collins in the lead role.

Both “SATC” and “Emily in Paris” were created by TV super-producer Darren Star, hinting that a character crossover could be on the cards.

Cattrall famously snubbed the new “SATC” reboot — “And Just Like That” — amid an alleged feud with her former co-stars, but she still may want to revive her role as the sassy, sex-crazed publicist of a certain age — and “Emily in Paris” could offer her the perfect vehicle to do just that.

It’s only natural that the two successful women of public relations should want to grab a café and chat. Plus, as armchair detectives have pointed out, they’re both traipsing through Europe at the same time — as Samantha’s absence on “And Just Like That” is explained by the fact that she has relocated to London, which is just a stone’s throw from Emily à Paris.

In “SATC,” Samantha worked in public relations, and now that has some convinced that she will show up as the lead character’s boss on “Emily in Paris.”

“Current theory: Samantha has supposedly moved overseas, hence her lack of presence in the new SATC TV series. Then she shows up by total surprise in a crossover episode of EMILY IN PARIS,” theorized one viewer on Twitter. “I would watch Samantha try to tolerate Emily, 100 percent.”

Therefore, many fans are convinced Samantha will suddenly arrive in the city of lights and become Emily’s new boss in season three.

“It would be deeply chaotic and entertaining if Darren Star hires Kim Cattrall to be Emily In Paris’s boss named Samantha in an upcoming season,” one wrote.

Alternatively, it’s been suggested that Emily could relocate to London in the third season, to follow her British love interest from the second season — and that’s where she’d cross paths with Cattrall’s character.

“Emily moves to London to follow Alfie and finds herself in a new position working for Samantha Jones PR,” one fan speculated on an Instagram Story shared by UK journalist Leanne Bayley.

Scholars of chic TV say the fizzy, fun and fashion-minded sensibility of “Emily in Paris” is reminiscent of the the early seasons of “SATC,” making it the perfect platform for Samantha’s return.

“‘Emily In Paris’ is truly ‘Sex and the City’ for zillennials,” a viewer cooed. “It’s all nonsense. The fashion is simultaneously aspirational and unhinged. Everyone is contagiously horny. No one makes a single good decision. They certainly aren’t good at their jobs. I couldn’t love it more.”

Elsewhere, Cattrall herself recently teased about the possibility of joining the “Emily in Paris” cast. In September, the actress took to Instagram to share a photo with Patricia Field, who is currently serving as the costume designer on “Emily in Paris.”

Cattrall has not yet responded to the rumors.

However, her proverbial appearance is far from the only “Emily in Paris”-meets-“SATC” fan theory to manifest on the internet.

One speculated that Emily could even be the daughter of “SATC” characters Mr. Big (Chris Noth) and his ex-wife, Natasha Naginsky (Bridget Moynahan).

“Hot take: Carrie discovers that Emily in Paris is actually Big and Natasha’s child. Which explains the £1million in the willc[left for Natasha by Big in ‘And Just Like That’],’ they wrote.

However, that theory can only be filed as pure fan fiction for now as show fact-checkers would note that Emily’s surname is Cooper, while Big’s surname in “SATC” is Preston. Emily also states that she is from Chicago, while Big and Natasha were both based in New York.
