The proprietor of a California jewellery retailer fended off 5 smash-and-grab theft suspects after he flashed his legally owned firearm, police mentioned.
The person, recognized by KTVU as Usman Bhatti, foiled the tried theft at his retailer contained in the Tanforan Mall in San Bruno at about 1 p.m. Jan. 21.
Bhatti, who has a hid carry allow, drew his gun after one of many males cracked a show case after which threatened him with a crowbar, based on police.
After he pointed the firearm towards the would-be robber and yelled at him to cease, the crowbar-wielding suspect fled towards the meals court docket, authorities mentioned.
One other male suspect whipped out his personal gun and aimed it at Bhatti, police mentioned.

Bhatti instructed KTVU that he had no different choice than to drag out his gun.
“I’m not attempting to be a hero or a macho man … it simply occurred very fast and I had no alternative,” he instructed the outlet.
