Silence on violence
What an ideal article by Sylvia Bennett-Stone (“The place is rage over killings of our kids?” Feb. 5).

She is 100% right. The place are all our group leaders and politicians? That is actually an epidemic.

Our youngsters ought to be protected in our streets, protected in school, protected in automotive seats of their dad and mom’ automobiles and protected of their beds.

Neither Republicans nor Democrats are exhibiting outrage. Why not? As a result of it doesn’t align with both of their narratives.

We'd like first rate folks to face up and converse out, just like the writer of this text, concerning the tragedy of our valuable youngsters being slaughtered on this nation.

GOP’s Jan. 6 break up
Solely after Senate Minority Chief Mitch McConnell made it clear the Jan. 6 rebellion was not “official political discourse” have GOP elected officers begun mimicking what the conservative Kentucky lawmaker stated on Tuesday (“Mitch slap at RNC on Liz censure,” Feb. 9).

Whereas I count on extra Republicans to hitch McConnell, I’m nonetheless ready for the primary main GOP donors to publicly refuse to assist the nationwide celebration’s ongoing fund-raising efforts.

In my view, solely when the cash path dries up will the Republican Nationwide Committee and its affiliated statewide organizations reverse course. Till they do, this self-inflicted wound of a thousand cuts might show to be deadly.

Flores’ lawsuit
It's unlucky the Brian Flores controversy was not concerning the qualifications of a head coach within the NFL (“Flores’ attorneys: NFL lawsuit why Smith bought Texans teaching job,” Sports activities, Feb. 8).

This is able to have been a extra constructive dialogue than the flame-throwing fees of racism.

Evaluating Flores’ background and experiences would have been an attention-grabbing research within the course of of choosing a head coach within the NFL.

As a substitute, we get the poisonous fees of racism, that are damaging and divisive and can finish in animosity.

Behind ‘blue line’
As a retired law-enforcement officer of 35 years, I'm extraordinarily puzzled by the purposefully deceptive denigration of the which means of the “skinny blue line” flag (“Blue with outrage,” Feb. 7).

It has completely nothing to do with racism. The blue within the flag stands for individuals who serve, and the black within the flag stands for law enforcement officials murdered within the line of obligation. It’s that easy.

These law enforcement officials killed within the line of obligation are black, Asian, white, Hispanic or of blended race like myself.

This false narrative about what the flag means is being promulgated by those that wish to divide the nation alongside the traces of race and incite violence in opposition to law enforcement officials — it doesn't matter what their pores and skin colour is.

Avenatti’s penance
Michael Avenatti, the erstwhile savior of the Democratic Social gathering, was discovered responsible for a second time of fraud and stealing cash from his shoppers (“Stormy: No mercy for ‘Av,’ ” Feb. 6).

As soon as heralded as being the person to defeat former President Donald Trump as a candidate, he proved himself to be nothing greater than a slick lawyer along with his palms in different peoples’ pockets.

Avenatti sunk to the depths of depravity and can quickly be doing jail time, and I think about that a good begin.
