NYC math teacher loses job over cops ‘reciprocity’ Instagram post

The Brooklyn public faculty trainer who posted an anti-cop Instagram put up in regards to the funeral of detective Jason Rivera is not an worker of the college.

Coney Island Prep stated on Sunday that Chris Flanigan, who appeared to encourage violence in opposition to cops mourning Rivera, not works for the college.

“We don't condone or promote violence of any type. As of this afternoon, Mr. Flanigan is not employed at Coney Island Prep,” Coney Island Prep CEO Leslie-Bernard Joseph stated in a press release.

“The academics and workers of Coney Island Prep are public servants; and like all public servants we maintain ourselves to a a lot larger commonplace,” Joseph stated. “We work exhausting to serve the younger folks in our neighborhood, and we all know our cops do as properly, taking innumerable dangers, to maintain our metropolis protected.”

Flanigan instructed The Publish on Sunday that he’d acquired loss of life threats over his since-deleted Instagram Story displaying an overhead shot of officers flooding Fifth Avenue for Rivera’s funeral, with the caption, “5/30/20: NYPD SUV drives right into a crowd of protestors. Supreme situations for reciprocity.”

He claimed his message was “misconstrued” and that he was merely commenting on the “vulnerability” of the gang of cops.

“I respect the NYPD. I don't condone violence,” he insisted on Sunday. “A 22-year-old police officer murdered within the line of responsibility is reprehensible. I’m devastated by that.”

Flanigan was profiled by NY1 for his musical tributes to first responders within the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. He instructed the station he felt solidarity with Black Lives Matter protesters.
