Actress Susan Sarandon shared a Twitter put up evaluating police gathered on the funeral of slain NYPD Detective Jason Rivera to fascists — within the newest instance of anti-cop vitriol.
The “Thelma & Louise” star posted a picture that confirmed a tweet by author and podcaster Danny Haiphong of a photograph of the huge turnout of officers in Manhattan final week.
“I’m gonna inform my youngsters that is what fascism appears like,” the unique tweet stated.
Sarandon posted a picture Tuesday that included an obvious screenshot of the unique tweet and a caption that stated, “So, if all these cops weren’t wanted for CRIME that day, doesn’t that imply they aren’t wanted ANY day?”
The hashtag #abolishthepolice was added over the unique screenshot. It wasn’t clear if Sarandon made the put up herself or was sharing it from elsewhere.
Sarandon, who gained the Oscar for Greatest Actress for the 1995 film “Lifeless Man Strolling,” has been an outspoken critic of police brutality and has taken half in Black Lives Matter protests, together with in Brooklyn.
The actress has been a vocal supporter of progressive political insurance policies and backed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in his 2016 presidential run.
The put up is the most recent in a collection of criticism towards cops.
A Brooklyn math instructor drew flak for his put up on Instagram that appeared to encourage violence towards cops — a message he claims was misconstrued — whereas Manhattan actress Jacqueline Guzman was canned from her job for complaining on-line about road closures associated to Rivera’s funeral.
