Athletics bring back Jed Lowrie after surprising season

MESA, Ariz. — Jed Lowrie is staying with the Oakland Athletics to increase the infielder’s third stint with the membership, reaching settlement on a one-year contract.

The A’s introduced the deal Saturday.

Lowrie, who turns 38 subsequent month, returned to Oakland final season on a minor league contract and have become a key contributor on a membership that missed the playoffs after three straight berths.

He batted .245 with 28 doubles, 14 house runs and 69 RBIs over 139 video games. His 449 video games at second base are fifth most in Oakland historical past.

Earlier within the week, the A’s introduced again fan favourite veteran catcher Stephen Vogt. Oakland traded away ace Chris Bassitt, first baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Matt Chapman.
