Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is overtly lobbying The Walt Disney Co. to relocate its theme park from Orlando to his state over what he calls “authoritarian socialist assaults” from the Republican Social gathering.
“Florida’s authoritarian socialist assaults on the personal sector are driving companies away,” the Democratic governor tweeted on Tuesday.
“In CO, we don’t meddle in affairs of corporations like @Disney or @Twitter.”
Polis then added: “Hey @Disney, we’re prepared for Mountain Disneyland and @twitter we’re prepared for Twitter HQ2, whoever your house owners are.”
Polis, who mentioned he was prepared to “grant full asylum to Mickey and Minnie,” was reacting to a tweet exhibiting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis vowing to carry Twitter’s board of administrators “accountable for breaching their fiduciary obligation.”
DeSantis, the GOP governor whose title has been talked about as a possible presidential hopeful in 2024, criticized Twitter’s board for adopting a “poison tablet” technique geared toward deterring Tesla CEO Elon Musk from mounting a hostile takeover of the corporate.
Musk, who mentioned he needs to take Twitter personal in an effort to restore its unique mission as a discussion board that promotes “free speech,” made a $41 billion all-cash supply for the San Francisco-based firm.
Twitter’s headquarters is in San Francisco, although it does have places of work in Miami in addition to in Boulder, Colorado.
