Russian customers of Netflix have launched a category motion lawsuit towards the streaming large for leaving the Russian market, demanding 60 million roubles ($726,000) in compensation, the RIA information company reported on Wednesday.
Netflix Inc mentioned in March that it suspended its service in Russia and had briefly stopped all future initiatives and acquisitions within the nation because it assessed the influence of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Immediately, a legislation agency representing the pursuits of Netflix customers filed a category motion lawsuit towards the American Netflix service with the Khamovnichesky District Courtroom of Moscow”, RIA cited legislation agency Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Companions as saying.
“The explanation for the lawsuit was a violation of Russian customers’ rights as a consequence of Netflix’s unilateral refusal to offer providers in Russia.”
Netflix didn't instantly reply to a request for remark.
Scores of international corporations have introduced momentary shutdowns of shops and factories in Russia or mentioned they had been leaving for good since Moscow started what it calls “a particular navy operation” in Ukraine on Feb. 24.
Ukraine and the West say Russia launched an unprovoked battle of aggression towards its neighbor.
