SpaceX capsule docks at ISS with an all-private astronaut crew

The historic SpaceX capsule, carrying the primary all-private crew of astronauts, efficiently docked on the Worldwide House Station on Saturday.

The crew of three rich entrepreneurs and a retired NASA astronaut had been welcomed aboard the orbiting analysis platform about 21 hours after lifting off from NASA’s Kennedy House Middle Friday. Docking was reported as full at 8:41 a.m. ET.

Their arrival kicked off a weeklong science mission which is being lauded as an enormous achievement in industrial spaceflight.

The Crew Dragon capsule’s docking was delayed about 45 minutes by a technical glitch with a video feed used to observe the capsule’s rendezvous with the ISS, however the mission in any other case proceeded easily.

The multinational crew representing Houston-based startup firm Axiom House Inc. is planning to spend eight days in orbit. It's being led by retired Spanish-born NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria, 63, the corporate’s vice chairman for enterprise growth.
