University of Wisconsin track star Sarah Shulze dead at 21

The College of Wisconsin campus is mourning the loss of life of a beloved monitor and cross nation star.

Sarah Shulze, 21, died by suicide on April 13, her household introduced.

“Balancing athletics, lecturers and the calls for of on daily basis life overwhelmed her in a single, determined second,” Shulze’s household stated. “Such as you, we're shocked and grief stricken whereas holding on tightly to all that Sarah was.”

The California-born runner was a junior and member of the cross nation, indoor monitor and outside monitor groups on the College of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin officers launched an announcement Friday relating to the beloved scholar, who was described as a mild soul and embellished student-athlete.

“The Wisconsin Athletics group is heartbroken by the sudden passing of Sarah Shulze,” the college stated. “We lengthen our deepest sympathies and honest condolences to Sarah’s household, mates and Badger teammates throughout this terribly troublesome time.”

Shulze’s loss of life was adopted by outpourings of grief on social media.

Olympic runner Georgia Ellenwood, a former Wisconsin monitor star, expressed her condolences in a remark beneath the college’s Instagram put up.

She earned educational all-Huge Ten honors in 2020 and 2021 for cross nation and in 2021 whereas operating at Wisconsin.

A 2019 graduate of Oak Park Excessive, Shulze was a star distance runner at her highschool. She was named Ventura County Athlete of the 12 months and earned a scholarship to Wisconsin in 2018.

Shulze’s household launched the Sarah Shulze Basis to advance and assist ladies’s rights, scholar athletes and psychological well being.

Funeral providers at each College of Wisconsin Madison and in California had been introduced. The UW Madison service shall be held at campus on April 24 from 5-8 p.m.

The California service shall be held at Calvary Neighborhood Church on Might 2 at 3 pm.

Shulze is survived by her dad and mom, Brigitte and Scott, and her sisters Abbey and Ella.
