Aaron Wise hit in head by errant tee shot at PGA Championship

TULSA, Okla. — Aaron Clever was hit within the head by a Cam Smith shot on the seventh gap Friday.

Clever was within the midst of taking part in the par-4 seventh gap when Smith, taking part in the adjoining second gap, hit him within the head with a tee shot that flew 316 yards into the unsuitable fairway.

Clever, 25 and the winner of the 2018 AT&T Byron Nelson, managed to make par at Nos. 7 and eight, however bogeyed the ninth gap to shoot 2-over 72 on Friday and is 1-over for the week.

After the spherical, he sought medical consideration and was seen holding an ice pack to his head.
