New Jersey man charged in deadly parking spat punch: authorities

An enraged New Jersey man fatally punched a motorist following a fender-bender, authorities stated.

Troy Leary, 35, was charged with second-degree manslaughter Monday within the March 11 assault that left Terence McManus, 39, brain-dead after placing his head on the bottom, in line with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Workplace.

Leary allegedly slugged McManus in the course of the dispute about McManus backing his automobile right into a Mercury Milan parked behind him. The blow induced “him to fall, hit his head, and undergo blunt head trauma,” prosecutors stated.  

The lethal punch was caught on surveillance video within the 1100 block of Whitman Avenue in Camden, prosecutors and police stated.

Investigators tracked the Mercury Milan on surveillance video to and from the scene, finally figuring out Leary as the driving force of the car and the person who attacked McManus, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay stated Tuesday.

Leary, of Camden, is being held on the Camden County Correctional Facility. He’s set to look for a pretrial detention listening to on Wednesday. It’s unclear if he’s employed an lawyer who might touch upon his behalf.

Leary was taken into custody by US Marshals throughout a visitors cease late Monday in Camden, authorities stated.

McManus, who was remembered as a “kind-hearted, playful and distinctive soul” in his obituary, was pronounced lifeless a day later.

“Terry was completely adored by his nieces and nephews and would do something to make them snigger and smile,” his obit continued. “He was really a child at coronary heart, which was apt contemplating he was a child magnet.”
