Bronx driver hits woman walking her pit bulls, killing one, and flees

A girl strolling together with her pit bulls was significantly injured within the Bronx in a hit-and-run that killed one of many beloved canines, police mentioned Wednesday.

An Audi SUV struck 55-year-old Tanyi Mejia as she was crossing the Grand Concourse on the intersection of Mosholu Parkway simply after 9 p.m. Tuesday, in line with police and sources.

Mejia was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, the place a member of the family advised The Publish she had a slight concussion.

“She’s aware from what I do know… they’re simply monitoring her as a result of she had like a slight concussion,” her stepson, George Alvia, mentioned.

The household didn’t have the guts at first to even inform Mejia that considered one of her pit bulls had died.

“[My dad] didn’t inform her as a result of he didn’t need her to panic or something like that,” he mentioned.
