Serena Williams reveals Wimbledon comeback

Serena Williams will quickly be again in motion.

The 40-year-old tennis professional revealed Tuesday that she plans to compete at Wimbledon later this month, almost a 12 months after withdrawing from the match attributable to harm.

“SW and SW19. It’s a date. 2022 See you there. Let’s Go #renasarmy,” Williams captioned a photograph on Instagram that featured her white Nike sneakers on a grass courtroom.

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, has been teasing her Wimbledon return for a while. Again in April, she spoke about her comeback in an internet video with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who dubbed himself her “hype man.”

“We’ve been speaking about my comeback and he’s been hyping me up and getting me prepared for Wimbledon,” she mentioned on the time.

Williams bowed out of Wimbledon final summer time after sustaining a left leg harm throughout her first-round match towards Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

“I used to be heartbroken to need to withdraw immediately after injuring my proper leg,” Williams expressed in a earlier Instagram put up. “My love and gratitude are with the followers and the group who make being on Centre Courtroom so significant. Feeling the exrtaordinary [sic] heat and help of crowd immediately after I walked on — and off — the courtroom meant the world to me.”

Williams has not competed in a match since that day.

If she had been to tug off a shocking victory and win the match, she can be the oldest lady ever to take action at Wimbledon – although she wouldn't be the oldest to win a match there. That honor belongs to Madeline O’Neill, who did so on the age of 54 in 1922.
