Suspicious package at Grand Central NYC subway station sparks probe

A suspicious bundle investigation on the Grand Central subway station snarled practice service and led to the evacuation of a platform on Memorial Day, authorities mentioned. 

Authorities have been known as to the East forty second Avenue No. 7 line platform round 11:30 a.m. for a “cylindrical” bundle, cops mentioned. 

The platform was evacuated, police mentioned.

The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit and Bomb Squad have been known as to the scene, police mentioned.

Although it was initially feared to be a pipe bomb, it was really a innocent collection of plastic containers—like movie containers—stuffed with rice and a few tape, police sources mentioned.

“It was rubbish,” a cop on scene mentioned. “After we see a bundle and we don’t know what it's or who it belongs to, we've to name within the K9 unit…..the entire 9 yards.”
