Cop injured after perp tried to gouge his eyes in Times Square: police sources

A police officer was attacked Wednesday afternoon in Instances Sq. when a person tried to gouge his eyes, police and legislation enforcement sources stated.

The cop was stationed in entrance of a kid COVID vaccine web site on the Knickerbocker Resort at Broadway and West forty second Road when the assault occurred, sources stated.

The person allegedly attacked when the officer instructed him to cease blocking the constructing’s door.

The assailant allegedly wrestled the officer to the bottom and poked him within the eyes, police stated.

The suspect was arrested, police stated.

A Hilton Backyard Inn safety guard instructed The Submit she noticed the officer and suspect “gripping” one another through the altercation. The guard, who didn't need to give her identify, stated the accused perp’s brow was bleeding.

“I noticed him and the man on the ground. I noticed blood over right here,” she stated, pointing above her eye.

“They're gripping one another or one thing, that’s what I noticed.”

The officer was taken to Bellevue Hospital, and is in steady situation, police stated.
