Steelers captain Cameron Heyward “took offense” to Ben Roethlisberger’s latest feedback asserting that too many NFL gamers have “a me-type angle.”
When requested to check totally different phases of his 18-year profession with the Steelers, Roethlisberger informed the Pittsburgh Submit-Gazette that “folks have modified.”
“The staff was so necessary,” Roethlisberger mentioned. “It was all in regards to the staff. Now, it’s about me and this, that and the opposite.
“I could be standing on a soapbox a bit of bit, however that’s my largest takeaway from after I began to the top. It turned from a team-first to a me-type angle. It was arduous. It’s arduous for these younger guys, too. Social media. They’re handled so nicely in school. Now, this new NIL stuff, which is unbelievable. They’re handled so particular. They’re coddled at a younger age as a result of school coaches want them to win, too. I do know coach (Terry) Hoeppner by no means coddled me. Neither did (Invoice) Cowher.”

Heyward, talking on his “Not Simply Soccer with Cam Heyward” podcast, took exception to Roethlisberger’s take.
“It appears as if we're checked out as egocentric gamers, and I don’t assume that’s the purpose,” Heyward mentioned. “We have now numerous younger gamers that come from totally different backgrounds, have skilled various things from what others or I could have skilled. That doesn’t make them egocentric or extra of a me-type angle. … There are much more team-first guys than me-type angle. I took offense to that.”
Heyward and Roethlisberger had been teammates in Pittsburgh for 11 seasons, starting in 2011, when Heyward was a first-round pick of Ohio State. The defensive deal with has served as a staff captain since 2015.

“Possibly Ben didn’t see it that manner, however man, I’m going to guard my guys,” Heyward continued. “You simply can’t say it’s a ‘me-type of angle’ now. Everybody’s out to be a Tremendous Bowl winner, generate profits, someday be an MVP. However when all of it comes collectively, we care about one factor, this brand proper right here. … I believe Ben was a bit of out on that one.”
Regardless of the obvious disagreement, Heyward maintained that he's not “calling out” Roethlisberger.
“Ben has taken some hits not numerous different groups may do,” Heyward mentioned. “He saved us. He received video games we weren’t purported to win. He’s at all times stepped up. However it was the staff round him that helped him do it, and I don’t need anybody to ever neglect that the entire staff received — not simply Ben.”
