A teenage boy was arrested Monday and charged with homicide within the capturing dying of 14-year-old Justin Streeter in East Harlem final week, police mentioned.
The 17-year-old suspect turned himself into police custody on Monday morning and was accompanied by his mom and lawyer on the time, based on sources and the NYPD.
He was charged with homicide, tried homicide, two counts of assault and two counts of prison use of a firearm in connection to final Tuesday’s deadly capturing on East 128th Avenue and Park Avenue, police mentioned late Monday.
The NYPD didn't launch the teenager’s identify as a result of he's a minor. He resides in Manhattan, police mentioned.
Streeter was strolling with a 15-year-old pal on East 128th Avenue when a gunman focused them at about 4 p.m.
Because the pair fled, a bullet struck Streeter within the head and his pal was hit within the leg and later taken to the hospital to be handled.
Streeter’s household left East Harlem and moved to New Jersey two years in the past to dwell in a safer space, the slain boy’s father instructed CBS 2. The boy was again in Harlem to go to his grandparents when he was killed.
“So I really feel I failed. I really feel I failed, as a result of the identical factor I obtained him away from is what took his life,” grieving father Damon Streeter instructed the information outlet.
The suspect was arraigned and remanded into custody late Monday. The following court docket date within the case is ready for Friday.
