Investigating an epidemic of violence in opposition to girls in Mexico.
Day-after-day in Mexico, round 10 girls are murdered – virtually at all times by males.
It’s an epidemic of gender-based violence that threatens to spiral uncontrolled.
Now, specialised police squads try to reverse the development and convey the responsible to justice. However can they overcome years of machismo tradition and indifference?
Previously, too many murders of ladies have been half-heartedly investigated or just dismissed as suicides. Particular Prosecutor Sayuri Herrera says that hitherto perpetrators have relied on long-standing prejudices to evade the legislation. “They rely on us believing their lies as a result of society has by some means at all times proved them proper,” she says.
Mexico’s devoted femicide detectives, Herrera insists, at the moment are starting to problem that assumption. For this movie, reporter Sarah Ferguson went behind the scenes to gauge their probabilities of success.
