Boy, 4, who died in NYC crash was riding stolen scooter with dad: cops

The 4-year-old boy who died in a Bronx crash late Sunday was using a stolen scooter along with his father once they slammed into one other automobile, cops stated Monday. 

The kid, recognized as Mario Rosario, was using on the again of a two-wheel scooter along with his dad round 9:20 p.m. once they tried to overhaul a 2022 Toyota sedan heading south on Bailey Avenue and turning onto West 193rd Road in Fordham Manor, authorities stated. 

The scooter struck the automobile on the left aspect – inflicting the scooter to hit the curb, knocking each passengers off their trip, authorities stated.

The boy, who wasn’t carrying a helmet, hit his head on the bottom, cops stated. His father was carrying a helmet, in keeping with police sources.

The kid was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, the place he died.

The scooter was reportedly stolen, and the boy’s 24-year-old father, additionally named Mario Rosario, was arrested and charged with felony possession of stolen property, authorities stated.

It’s not clear whether or not Rosario stole the car himself or received it by different means. 

He was additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a kid, cops stated. 

The Toyota driver, William Baez, 51, was driving with a suspended license, police stated. 

He was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, cops stated.
