Finland puts journalists on trial for revealing defence secrets

Finland has put three journalists on trial on expenses of showing nationwide defence secrets and techniques for allegedly publishing labeled paperwork in a newspaper article.

The December 16, 2017, article in every day newspaper Helsingin Sanomat targeted on the actions of the Finnish Intelligence Analysis Middle, a navy intelligence company.

The investigative report revealed the tough location and duties of an intelligence unit of the defence forces.

Reporters Tuomo Pietilaina and Laura Halmi, and the paper’s performing supervisor on the time, Kalle Silfverberg, have denied wrongdoing.

If convicted, they face jail sentences of up 4 years, in keeping with Finnish broadcaster MTV.

The three weren't current on the District Courtroom of Helsinki on Thursday however are scheduled to testify on the finish of November, MTV reported.

A deliberate follow-up article was not printed on the order of the editor-in-chief after the primary story drew criticism, in keeping with MTV.

On Thursday, a prosecutor demanded the elimination of the net model of the unique story from the newspaper’s web site, MTV mentioned.
