Jimmy Garoppolo ghosted 49ers after getting $137.5 million contract

Jimmy Garoppolo took the cash and ran.

Garoppolo signed a five-year, $137.5 million contract extension with the 49ers in February 2018, an audacious deal contemplating the quarterback had began simply seven NFL video games to that time. 

And, after showing at a press convention to formally announce the extension, Garoppolo disappeared.

“As soon as he left that press convention, no one heard from him for weeks and weeks,” a member of that 49ers teaching employees instructed the San Francisco Chronicle. “He didn’t return calls, he didn’t return texts — he principally simply vanished.
