He stated he went to the bar on Jan. 28, 2020 and heard Gutierrez speaking about how Cruz had displayed the images.

Mendez stated he filed a grievance with the Sheriff’s Division after he left the bar. He was then contacted by Capt. Jorge Valdez shortly thereafter.

Almost a month later, Mendez stated he learn an article about his grievance, which annoyed him as a result of Valdez had assured him his title can be saved nameless.

Mendez stated he known as again Valdez on March 1, 2020 and “expressed my disdain and frustration” in regards to the obvious leak.
