What’s needed for lasting peace between Israelis, Palestinians?

Israel has carried out a 3rd day of air raids on Gaza. The army says it's focusing on the Palestinian Islamic Jihad armed group.

However it's civilians who're bearing the brunt of the worst violence since final 12 months’s 11-day struggle. Dozens of Palestinians, together with 15 youngsters, have been killed since Friday. The armed group has fired greater than 500 rockets into Israel.

The Palestinian prime minister says the cycle of violence should cease.

So what’s wanted to ship everlasting peace? And the way does the most recent spherical of assaults jeopardise the mediation efforts made to this point?
