5-year-old boy struck and killed in Queens hit-and-run

A 5-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Queens Thursday — and his mother and father watched in horror as the driving force fled.

The boy, recognized as Jonathan Martinez, was crossing one centesimal Avenue along with his mother and father when the driving force of a white Dodge pickup truck turned onto the East Elmhurst block and struck the boy simply earlier than 5:30 p.m., police stated.

The driving force drove off from the scene as Jonathan’s mother and father watched helplessly.

Jonathan — who lived a few block from the scene — suffered extreme trauma to the top and torso, police stated.

EMS rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, however he couldn’t be saved. He was pronounced lifeless at 6:10 p.m.

The NYPD Collisions Investigation Squad was on the scene investigating the incident.
