Hiker dies in hot temps, marking fifth death in Grand Canyon this year

An Arizona lady died whereas climbing within the Grand Canyon Sunday — the fifth demise within the nationwide park this 12 months.

Delphine Martinez, 59, of Window Rock, grew to become disoriented and later fell unconscious after reaching the Thunder River Path close to the Colorado River whereas on a multi-day backpacking journey, the Nationwide Park Service stated.

Martinez is the fifth to die within the Grand Canyon this 12 months. In June, a Canadian lady died whereas climbing alongside the Grand Canyon’s Brilliant Angel Path when interior canyon temperatures reached of 104 levels.
