Man survives 100-foot fall off cliff in Calif. after 22-minute rescue

A person survived a roughly 100-foot fall off a California cliff edge that “crumbled” beneath him as he was strolling on it final week, authorities stated.  

The person was strolling at daybreak Friday alongside the cliff overlooking Moss Seaside in San Mateo County, Calif., when the bottom beneath him collapsed, sending him plummeting, CAL FIRE San Mateo tweeted.

A girl heard the person’s cries for assist round 8:30 a.m. and dialed 911, CBS reported.

The rescue took about 22 minutes, authorities stated. Video posted to the CAL FIRE San Mateo unit’s Twitter account captured greater than a half-dozen firemen utilizing a pulley to deliver the person up the steep cliff face to security. 

The cliff crumbled beneath a man who was walking at dawn in Moss Beach. He fell est. 100 feet & yelled for help. At 8:30am a woman nearby heard his calls. Coastside Fire pulled him to safety within 22 minutes of their arrival. Avoid cliff edges as they are unstable.

“Keep away from cliff edges as they're unstable,” CAL FIRE warned in its tweet.

In Could, a 25-year-old man died and three others had been injured after the group plummeted from a roughly 300-foot ocean cliff in Palos Verdes Estates in Southern California.
