‘The People’s Joker’ removed from TIFF over ‘rights issues’

Vera Drew’s “The Individuals’s Joker” — which was set to debut on the Toronto Movie Competition this yr — was yanked from the lineup Wednesday.

Drew allegedly pulled the movie from the pageant over “rights points,” a press release on the TIFF web site stated.

“The filmmaker has withdrawn this movie as a result of rights points,” the assertion learn. “We apologize for any inconvenience. Present ticket holders will obtain an e-mail from TIFF Buyer Relations with info on their buy.”

A spokesperson for the movie pageant declined to present further info.
