Letters to the Editor — Sept. 25, 2022

Local weather hypocrisy
These attending the United Nations Normal Meeting may lead by instance on the subject of world warming and local weather change (“To Repair the UN Visitors Nightmare,” Editorial, Sept. 21).

Heads of state, ambassadors, navy attachés and safety personnel may give up limousines taking them to and from their embassy, resort or residence to the UN. These motorcades contribute to visitors gridlock and improve air air pollution.

Be a part of a number of million New Yorkers by driving the subway or bus. Take pleasure in some contemporary air and stroll a number of blocks from any close by subway or bus cease.

Mingle with strange residents to develop a greater understanding of America and its folks. If congestion pricing kicks in subsequent yr, they shouldn't be exempt or supplied reductions.

This contains any police, FBI or different law-enforcement escorts. These autos must be billed to whomever they've been assigned to guard.

Orthodox snub
How unconscionable that no ultra-Orthodox or Hasidic Jews, who've repeatedly been the victims of anti-Semitic hate crimes, had been invited to the latest White Home “United We Stand” Summit (“Orthodox Jews blast WH ‘bias,’ ” Sept. 20).

4 Orthodox journalists, furthermore, had been denied entry and needed to cowl the occasion from the White Home driveway. What completely shabby remedy.

That beleaguered neighborhood’s voice should not be excluded from such discussions. Its pleas for succor must be heard, heeded and forcefully addressed.

Fan’s massive catch
These blasting the 20-year-old Yankees fan for not demanding some form of monetary fee for catching Aaron’s Choose’s sixtieth house run must be ashamed of themselves (“HR ball finds manner again to Choose,” Sept. 22).

What a tough, jaded, cynical world we reside in. The child did what he thought was the best factor, and I believe he must be applauded.

Bob Birge
Bridgeport, Conn.

Baloney go well with
Austin Simon’s household needs to sue the Blue Moon comfort retailer for damages and accidents “sustained” by Simon (“Slain attacker’s household eyes go well with in opposition to bodega,” Sept. 21).
Good luck! This lawsuit is an insult to the intelligence of each citizen.

Simon was an ex-con with 28 arrests and a historical past of violence. He attacked 61-year-old Jose Alba with out provocation over a $3 bag of chips. He was killed in self-defense.

The dying was a tragedy to Jose Alba and the Simon household. Simon introduced it on himself when tried to beat Alba for nothing. The lawsuit is absurd and the Simon household shouldn't get one cent.

Alba ought to sue for false arrest and imprisonment — and sue Simon’s girlfriend for stabbing him. The costs in opposition to Alba had been dropped and the lawsuit must be dismissed by a choose if it goes to court docket. The Simon household has no leg to face on.

DOE’s vax theater
I can’t imagine that the New York Metropolis Division of Training remains to be demanding that its workers get vaccinated or fired (“The Evil of Continued COVID Craziness,” Karol Markowicz, PostOpinion, Sept. 19).

Why — in order that they don’t unfold COVID? Everyone knows that those that are totally vaccinated and even double-boosted usually are not solely getting COVID, however spreading it. It’s getting crazier each day.
