Fault Traces investigates secretive models inside the US Border Patrol which have been accused of masking up agent misconduct.
Secretive models inside the US Border Patrol have operated within the shadows for many years – and there's rising proof that Vital Incident Groups (CIT) have been used to cover agent misconduct.
Fault Traces investigated an August 2021 automotive crash involving Border Patrol that killed two individuals. A survivor tells his story for the primary time, contradicting Border Patrol’s model and elevating severe questions in regards to the position of those groups after deadly encounters.
Human rights attorneys, who first uncovered CIT models in 2021, argue that they obstructed the investigation into Anastasio Hernandez-Rojas’s loss of life. He was hogtied, crushed and tased by brokers in 2010. Since then, a minimum of 145 individuals have died in lethal pursuits or use-of-force incidents with Border Patrol. No agent has been convicted in any of these deaths.
