Air Force pilot ejects before jet crashes into Salt Lake City runway

An Air Power pilot ejected from his jet simply earlier than the airplane crashed on the finish of a Salt Lake Metropolis runway Wednesday night.

The F-35 A Lightning II crashed on the north finish of the Hill Air Power Base runway at 6:15 p.m., the 388th Fighter Wing stated in a collection of tweets.

“The pilot ejected, was recovered and has been taken to a neighborhood medical middle for commentary,” the Air Power unit introduced.

On and off-base emergency crews responded to the wreck, the Air Power stated.

A number of folks reported seeing smoke from the crash from throughout Davis and Weber counties, 2KUTV stated.

The crash triggered a small wildfire, the outlet reported. The hearth has since been suppressed, however response efforts proceed.

The reason for the crash is just not but recognized however will probably be investigated.

The Air Power wing is asking members of the general public who witnessed the crash or who “finds something” associated to the incident to come back ahead.
