Pennsylvania convict accused of death threats to Biden, Dem lawmaker and judge

An incarcerated Pennsylvania man was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on costs he threatened to kill President Biden, the chairman of the Home choose committee probing final yr’s Capitol riot, and a federal choose, the Justice Division stated. 

Robert Maverick Vargo, of Berwick, made the threats in a letter he despatched to Rep. Bennie Thompson’s workplace which named the Mississippi Democrat, Thompson’s household, the president and US District Decide Robert Mariani, the US Legal professional’s Workplace for the Center District of Pennsylvania alleged in an announcement.

Prosecutors added that the letter alluded to anthrax and contained a white powder that was later decided to not be harmful.

Vargo despatched the letter from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in Wilkes-Barre, the feds stated.

Vargo’s letter arrived at Thompson’s workplace Oct. 11 and famous his position on the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot on the US Capitol, Scranton US Legal professional Gerard Karam stated.

“Im going to kill you! I'll make you're feeling the remainder of our ache & struggling,” the letter​ learn.

“There may be nowhere or no one who can hold you from me. I'm going to kill you & these you like. I promise you that I'll hold my promise till the day of my loss of life​,” the letter added, in keeping with federal prosecutors.

“You & Joe Biden quickly will face loss of life for the wrongs you’ve finished to US​,” it continued. ​

US Capitol Police stated on the time that officers have been investigating a “suspicious letter” with “regarding language” that was despatched to the Rayburn Home Workplace Constructing final Tuesday and stated that the envelope didn't comprise something harmful.

Vargo was within the information in July when he escaped a piece element that was a part of the Luzerne County jail’s minimal offenders unit. He was recaptured days later in Myrtle Seaside, SC.

He faces as much as 25 years in jail if convicted on the costs.
