South Carolina man says ‘witches’ commanded him to toss dog over bridge: police

A person accused of twice tossing a canine over a bridge mentioned he was instructed to do by witches, based on police. 

Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Officers responded to a name Monday, October 3, 2022, of somebody tossing a canine from a bridge over water situated on Freeway 11 within the Fingerville space of Spartanburg County. 

A witness informed officers that a man was tossing a canine off and over the bridge. Officers searched within the space beneath the bridge and located a person – later recognized as 43-year-old Shannon Lee Cantrell – holding a canine in a choke maintain. 

Cantrell informed the officers that “witches” informed him to throw the canine from the bridge. Police mentioned the canine was thrown twice and moist from being within the water beneath. Cantrell informed the officers that the canine was his and launched possession to Spartanburg County. 

Officers decided the space from the bridge to the bottom was roughly 34 ft. The one-year-old canine didn't present any seen indicators of damage however was “clearly shaken” by the incident, police mentioned. The canine was transported to Greenville County Animal Take care of evaluation.

Deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Workplace arrested Cantrell and transported him to the Spartanburg County Dentition Middle. He faces an animal cruelty cost.
