South Carolina man steals cremated remains of ex’s mom to sell for heroin

A South Carolina man stole the cremated stays of his ex-girlfriend’s mom to promote so he may purchase heroin, cops mentioned.

Jackson Rutland, 19, texted his ex round 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, and informed her he had taken her mom’s ashes from her residence in Warrensville whereas she was visiting a pal, based on an arrest warrant obtained by WRDW.

When the girl returned residence, she discovered the rear door busted in and the house ransacked. She informed police her mom’s ashes had been tampered with and a few had been unfold on the ground, based on the arrest report.

Rutland had allegedly swiped the stays to promote to purchase heroin, the warrant says, though it’s not clear how or why he thought he may promote the ashes for money.

“I’ve by no means heard of something like that,” Aiken County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Abdullah informed WRDW.

He was arrested Thursday evening and charged with destruction, desecration or removing of human stays in addition to housebreaking, based on jail data.
