China names its envoy to US Qin Gang as new foreign minister

New ambassador replaces Wang Yi, who has been China’s prime diplomat for the previous decade.

China has appointed its Ambassador to the US Qin Gang as its new overseas minister, based on state media.

Qin, 56, replaces Wang Yi, who has been China’s prime diplomat for the previous decade.

Wang, 69, was elected to the politburo of the Chinese language Communist Social gathering in October and is predicted to play a much bigger position in overseas coverage.
