Two men convicted in $284,000 robbery heist at Aqueduct Racetrack

Two males have been convicted in a brazen armed theft at Aqueduct Racetrack that netted greater than $284,000, authorities stated.

A Brooklyn jury discovered Queens residents Lafayette Morrison and Lamel Miller, each 39, every responsible of theft and weapons costs and face seven years to life in jail for the March 2020 crime.

The theft happened round 10 p.m. after Gotham Day stakes races on the Queens racetrick, whereas greater than $284,000 in money prizes have been being moved to a vault. Throughout the theft, Miller and one other man emerged from a stairwell and held up a number of workers at gunpoint.

Among the many employees was Morrison, who had been working as a safety guard on the tracks and had knowledgeable his co-conspirators when the cash was being moved, authorities stated. The pair fled to a resort, the place they divided the money.
