Man arrested at NYPL Drag Story Hour after confronting protesters

A person who confronted a bunch of anti-Drag Story Hour protesters at a Manhattan library Saturday afternoon was arrested after allegedly getting right into a tussle with an officer monitoring the demonstration, police mentioned.

Catapano, who was not part of the Drag Story Hour nor the protest, was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, tried assault and obstructing governmental administration, police mentioned.

One of many demonstrators claimed the group shut down the Drag Story Hour occasion early.

“They’re utilizing our taxpayer dollars to fund this,” the person instructed Twitter account NJEG Media. “As taxpayers, we've a proper to say the place our cash goes. We went in there and we protest on the drag story and we shut it down early. It was a giant success.”

The Drag Story Hour occasion continued and was not shut down by the incident, a New York Public Library spokeswoman mentioned.

Catapano was arraigned Monday in Manhattan Prison Courtroom, the place a decide set his bail at $4,500.
