St. John’s University honors slain detectives Rivera and Mora

St. John’s College honored detectives Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora Monday night time at Madison Sq. Backyard as they took on Huge East rival Villanova Tuesday.

Rivera, 22 and Mora, 27, had been fatally shot when a gunman ambushed them throughout a home name in a Harlem condominium on Jan. 21.

Rivera’s widow, Dominique Luzuriaga, obtained a standing ovation when she got here to middle court docket throughout the recreation.

“It was an honor to be a part of the particularly touching standing ovation and outpouring of affection that Detective Rivera‘s spouse Dominique obtained as she stood at half court docket,”  stated NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Edward Caban.

“I need to thank President [Brian] Shanley and St. John’s College for taking time to honor these two heroes.”

The Crimson Storm fell to the Wildcats 75-69.
