Vangelis, composer for ‘Chariots of Fire’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ dead at 79

Vangelis, finest identified for the “Chariots of Hearth’” and “Blade Runner” soundtracks, is useless. He was 79.

A rep for the composer instructed the Guardian that he died at a hospital in France. It's unknown what he was being handled for.

Born in Greece, Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou turned extra well-known to the world as Vangelis. He went on to create the scores for “Antarctica,” “The Bounty” and “Alexander.”

However the “Chariots” theme music, which reached the highest of the Billboard Scorching 100 chart, turned his most well-known work and gained him an Oscar in 1982.

The artist mixed orchestral music, digital synth sounds, jazz and ambient music that mimicked the sound of ocean waves as Olympic runners featured within the movie pranced down the seaside.
