Ever puzzled what “The Matrix” can be like if it included hip-hop choreography?
Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle apparently did and is bringing that imaginative and prescient — titled “Free Your Thoughts” — to a Manchester arts venue, the brand new Manufacturing unit Worldwide, in 2023.
The Warner Bros. Theater Ventures-licensed challenge is described as a “large-scale immersive efficiency” that can debut subsequent October, Selection reported on Thursday.
Multitalented composer Michael “Mikey J” Asante will work on the music for the present whereas Kenrick “H2O” Sandy will deal with choreography.
Boyle’s longtime collaborator Tracey Seaward will produce, whereas poet-playwright Sabrina Mahfouz will assist write, and artist Es Devlin will present massive sculptures.
“Combining the hip-hop choreography of a whole bunch of dancers with the newest immersive design, ‘Free Your Thoughts’ will take audiences on an exhilarating journey via ‘The Matrix’ and into a brand new realm of prospects,” the logline reads, in line with the outlet.
“This eye-opening manufacturing will stretch throughout the constructing’s ultra-flexible areas, responding to them and harnessing the collective power of the second,” it ended.
The enterprise isn’t as random as one might initially suppose. Boyle received Finest Director on the 2009 Oscars for “Slumdog Millionaire.” In 2012, he directed the London Olympic Video games opening ceremony, and as a part of that gig, directed Queen Elizabeth II and Daniel Craig in a James Bond-themed skit.

It had a duel-release in theaters and on HBO Max — which made the movie’s co-producer Village Roadshow Leisure Group take Warner Bros. to courtroom, claiming that was a breach of contract.
