LA wig shop owner fatally stabbed while trying to stop robbery

A wig store proprietor in downtown Los Angeles was fatally stabbed whereas attempting to cease a theft over the weekend, authorities mentioned.

Tommy Lee, 56, was working at his wig store close to the intersection of Wall Road and Olympic Boulevard round 1:15 p.m. Saturday when two 17-year-olds tried to rob him, information station FOX 11 reported.

“They have been taking a look at a wig. After which swiftly they made a run for it,” landlord Davina Kangavari advised the information station.

Cellphone footage and surveillance captured one of many robbers taking a look at a blond wig earlier than the duo fled, prompting Lee to chase them.

“Tommy had a document of being powerful and going after robbers. He began chasing them round [the] purchasing heart after which the boy pulled out a knife and shanked him proper within the coronary heart,” Kangavari mentioned.

Lee, who immigrated to the USA from South Korea, was found unconscious by authorities, and was pronounced useless on the scene, information station KABC reported.

Each suspects, a boy and lady, have been arrested following the assault. Their identities haven’t been launched as a result of they’re minors.

Lee had owned his Vogue District wig store for over 20 years. He's survived by a 25-year-old daughter.

“I don’t suppose he ever imagined he can be murdered over a wig,” Kangavari mentioned.
