Fire breaks out at legendary Italian film studio where ‘Ben-Hur,’ other classics shot

The legendary Italian movie mecca Cinecittà Studios erupted into flames on Monday, destroying a set that resembled Florence throughout the Renaissance period.

The blaze — which resulted in no reported accidents and left the studio comparatively unscathed — was extinguished by three groups of firefighters.

Barbosa lamented that the catastrophic incident hindered the film’s manufacturing schedule.
